Please note: Many of my short stories are published in my collection: Skeletons in the Closet & Other Creepy Stories.

  • A Grave Error (Myrtle Murphy Mystery #1)

Meet Myrtle Murphy, an unlikely serial killer you'll hate to love. While her husband Norman suffers from the ever popular mid-life crisis, Myrtle's decided to have a “Norman crisis". And she has reached the boiling point. So sit back with a nice cup of tea and enjoy…

This short story originated from an assignment in a writers' group that I started a few years ago. We decided to implement three elements from the conversations of a meeting and use them in writing a short story: spilled orange juice, a ketchup bottle exploding and the word ‘phenomenal'. I hope you enjoy.

  • The Death of an Old Cow (Myrtle Murphy Mystery #2)

Meet Myrtle Murphy, an unlikely serial killer that you'll hate to love. This time she has her sights set on her mother-in-law. The poor woman has no idea what's in store for her. So sit back with a nice cup of tea and enjoy…

This second short story in the Myrtle Murphy Mysteries series was also inspired by a writer's group assignment. It's been awhile so I don't recall all the details, other than we were to write a short story about cow tipping. Yee-ha!

  • Maid of Dishonor (Myrtle Murphy Mystery #3)

Meet Myrtle Murphy, an unlikely serial killer that you'll hate to love. This time a blast from the past sends her mind reeling to the night her sister was married, the night that started it all for her. Have a glass of wine and enjoy...

I wrote #3 because I really enjoyed this character, and I wanted to see what made her tick. Where did these urges come from and why?

  • Atrophy

Sometimes a relationship atrophies--wastes away until there is nothing left but skin and bone. For Aggie and Homer, their love is about to be tested. Let's hope they pass.

  • The Car

A strange car cruised past my house in the middle of the night. I think the car wanted something...or someone.

  • The Final Bomb

Meet Sir Reginald Appleby, a man who thinks he's God's gift to a small and desperate town. You know what they say, Sir Reginald. "Pride cometh before a fall."

  • Finding Bliss (novel excerpt)

'Finding Bliss' is an emotional, heartwarming story of a damaged teenage girl who must fight to survive in a world of abuse, lies and loss. As she struggles to find herself, Bliss discovers exactly where she belongs and she learns that she is worthy of love after all.

  • Lancelot's Lady (novel)

When Rhianna McLeod's dying boss sends her on a dream holiday to the Bahamas, Rhianna has no idea that her 'holiday' will include being stranded on a private island with an angry but handsome recluse. Or that she'll fall head over heels for the man.

To live fully in the present, Rhianna must resolve her own murky past, unravel JT’s dark secret and help Jonathan find his muse. Only then can she find the love she's been searching for, and finally become...Lancelot's Lady.

  • Picture Perfect

  • Remote Control (novelette)

    ***2008 Textnovel contest finalist***

In this dark, suspenseful and somewhat comical look at one man's desires, Remote Control by bestselling author Cheryl Kaye Tardif delivers a strong message: Be careful what you wish for!

Meet Harold Fielding--plumber by part of the day, slacker/tv addict the rest of the day and night. Harry believes that fame and fortune will come to him if he wishes hard enough. God forbid if he should actually work for it.

Beatrice Fielding is Harry's hardworking wife. She holds down multiple jobs so her husband can laze about on his recliner, eating popcorn and drinking cola while watching his favorite shows. She has many wishes--some aren't so nice.

  • Separation Anxiety

Maddy has no idea that one innocent action will lead to such excruciating, incomprehensible horror. You know the old adage: “payback’s a bitch”? Well, it is.

  • Sweet Dreams

On a camping trip with a group of friends, Lexie discovers that some dreams are anything but sweet. Some dreams can be deadly.

Note: Sweet Dreams was written as an entry for a writing contest. I was a member of a writers' group a few years back, and one of the members posted a photograph of a dark sky over a forested area. The shadows and coloring made it look eerie and menacing...and my short story Sweet Dreams was born.

    Incidentally, it won the contest.
